China Women's Travel Service:

Part of the All China Women's Federation

The China Women Travel Service (CWTS) is a first class travel agency created by the All China Women's Federation in 1986. It is registered with and approved by the State Tourism Administration of China, and is authorized to establish business contacts with overseas travel agents and can arrange entry and exit visas and tours for individuals and groups.

It is a state-owned enterprise and a legal entity. It is responsible for its own profits and losses. It has a main office in Beijing and branch offices and affiliates throughout P.R. China.

Since its inception, over 100,000 tourists have used its services to travel throughout China, for business, to attend international conferences, cultural exchanges, or on sightseeing, hunting, fishing, and trekking tours.

The America and Oceania Travel Section of CWTS is headed by Jiao Yufen and Zhang Yali. They have worked with the Ulan Bator Foundation for the past seven years and handle all of our tourists traveling and touring in China, Tibet, Xinjiang and Gansu. CWTS handles all of our tourists travelling to Mongolia through Beijing.

Prices of CWTS are competitive and below comparable China International Travel Service (CITS) quotes, for both FIT (individual and small group) and group tours. Service is always outstanding, and we have never had complaints from our tourists.

Profits of CWTS are funnelled back into the All China Women's Federation. The Federation (ACWF) in turn funds the Female Literary Campaign. Statistics show that since 1992 its programs have reduced female illiterary in China by 4 million each year, so that by 1995 the rate had dropped from 95% to 23% of the population. ACWF also runs summer schools, winter schools, and various training classes for illiterate women. They fund programs to help adolescent drop-outs or girls of school age who have emotional or social problems. The Spring Bud Project, to help girls finish school and to protect children's right to education has been up and running since 1994 and has assisted 100,000 girls and young women to go back to school. ACWF tries to organize rural women to teach them literacy and technical skills.
